New 'Discovery Room' launched

07 Jun 2021

Our new Discovery Room uses projectors and multi-touch interactive surfaces, displayed on three walls and a floor to transform a space into a range of different environments.  The space is a flexible learning tool, offering a dynamic, adaptable and interactive way for a variety of learners to access our curriculum.  The library of digital content that can be shown in the room includes stories, games, activities and scenes, as well as 360° videos.  The laser sensor walls mean that students can work in pairs or small groups to touch and interact with the environments.  The scent machines can also enhance the experience, giving our sensory learners a different way of experiencing somewhere new.  Our students can visit anywhere in space and time, from Ancient Egypt to the planet Mars and even inside the universe of some of their favourite books!  We are planning to make the room available to local nuseries and primary schools.

A big thank you to National Grid who provded £18,000 from their Community Grant Fund to help create our new room for the benefit of pupils and visitors to the school.
